Best & Brightest 2021: Highlighting Central New York’s High School Seniors


The Post-Standard & will be awarding seniors in the Central New York Region the prestigious Best & Brightest Award.

Are you a star athletes?  Theater lead?  Community activist determined to make a difference?

Do you excel at academics or have made your mark in our community in another way?

The Best & Brightest awards gives a platform for the community to celebrate deserving seniors and all your achievements.  While you may be off to college soon, you left your mark on our community and Central New York is undoubtedly better because of you!


Students nominate themselves with an application, essay, letters of recommendation and details about their academic successes, extracurricular activity and service to their school and community.

Eligible students included seniors with at least a B or 3.0 grade point average attending school in the Section 3 (see below for eligible counties). Students are asked to talk about any challenges they have faced and overcome.

Applications will be reviewed and winners selected by a panel including local area educators, teachers and community members as well as select l The Post-Standard writers.

Winners will be awarded during either an in-person or virtual award ceremony (depending on COVID conditions).  Winners will also be featured in The Post-Standard and on

August 24 – September 12: Application Submission Period

September 13 – September 30:  Teachers, Administrators, Community members and content writers review applications and select winners.

October 1: Winners selected and notified.  Announcement made on and in The Post-Standard.

October 15 (Date subject to change): Live or Virtual award ceremony
