Mobile Website on PhoneMobile use is growing at a rapid pace. Making your website easy for mobile users should already be a priority, as you could be losing customers if your site is difficult to use on a phone or tablet.

Now Google has announced that the mobile-friendliness of your site will impact you search ranking.

Here is Google’s recent announcement regarding mobile-friendly websites:
Starting April 21, we will be expanding our use of mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal. This change will affect mobile searches in all languages worldwide and will have a significant impact in our search results.

Not sure if your site is mobile-friendly? Here’s how to find out:

  • Check your own Search Engine Results Page (SERP). Google is posting “mobile-friendly” labels that tell mobile device users that a site is well-designed for them.
  • Use Google’s mobile-friendly test tool: https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/mobile-friendly/

Now is the time to start making plans for a site upgrade if you find your site is not optimized for mobile. Not only may you be losing customers because mobile-device users may have a difficult time navigating your site, but now your site may start suffering in desktop and mobile search results.
