Vox Pop is a new term for most people. The term comes from Latin, and it translates to ‘voice of the people’. Today, a vox pop is a short video made up of clips taken from interviews with members of the public. These video interviews typically explore public opinion towards widely known topics, brands or products and are commonly used for market research purposes. These videos are produced in a variety of different ways. Traditionally, a vox pop video refers to an on-the-street interview. By bringing a unique blend of humor, energy, and advocacy to the table, vox pop concepts gain a lot of attention due to their entertaining and authentic approach. Best of all, they lead to a large amount of content that can be rolled out through paid media.

Looking for a versatile concept that could translate to a variety of video platforms (mainly social media), the Control Menstrual Cramp Relief Cream marketing team collaborated with our creative team on a Vox Pop series to try something different. The main goal of the project was to drive awareness and highlight the unique value proposition points for the menstrual relief cream. Our creative team used Olympic Athlete, Sydney Milani, as a brand emcee for the cream product. Our video crew joined Sydney as she approached people on the streets of Nashville with a product branded mic. She had entertaining conversations about menstrual cramps while also educating participants along the way about the product. Our team filmed with her for two days which led to a lot of content that will be used for marketing purposes.

While not a traditional high production shoot, the Vox Pop concept required significant planning and project management from our team. Our creative team needed to secure permits, understand allowable filming zones and navigate the intricacies of a person on the street interview style during a nationally televised music award show weekend. The team also developed the script, questions and interactive features of the interviews which made the responses fun and light-hearted while also being informative for the target audience.

Here is one of the final produced videos from the shoot.
